PLANNING

CASTING FOR ACTORS

  • For the music video I had people audition for me so that I could ensure to cast the best person to suit the image and the genre.

  • I decided to go with Mariem because her looks suited the song, and she was comfortable with the camera and she does dancing and acting. It’s so important to make a good decisions at the level of cast because if they fail to deliver the get, the video can be jeopardised.
  • I equally had a back up actor in case thing did not work out as I wanted and having a back up plan is essential when you have a tight filming schedule.

ACTOR #1

She was my back up actor, she was comfortable in front of the camera and was avaliable on the days of filming. From doing my previous productions I saw how important it was to have back up actors and plans.

ACTOR #2

  • She was good at acting and dancing but she looked too young for the role and her looks/image did not suit the song.
  • One of the things I learnt throughout  my research is the need to ensure the artist carries the right image to maximise promotion outcomes

  • Once the cast was finalised- meetings were arranged to discus the concept of the video, how she needed to learn her lines and practise at home in order to be ready for the shoot.
  • We also discussed wardrobe/costume ideas, make up and the look that I wanted to go for.
  • These meetings proved really useful- not only did it help the actor to be more comfortable but she was able to understand what was expected from her.
